Pickin' Stix app good for
Pickin Stix took me back to my childhood, when I had a little cylinder filled with colofrul plastic "Pickup Sticks". Youd toss em in a pile, and then try to pick them up without disturbing the other sticks. Not only was it a great way to stay engrossed for a while, but it was also teaching me and my friends manual dexterity, as well as how to use our depth and relational perception to figure out how to move a stick without moving any others.
Now Jonathan Tenkely has come out with his iPhone version, just the thing to pass to the kids when theyre bored and you want to keep them out of trouble. With Pickin Stix, you shake the iPhone to "toss" the 47 sticks, then use a finger to "pick them up". The better you do at tapping on the top sticks, the faster youll get done.
The only complaint I have is that Pickin Stix, currently in a 1.0 release, has no way to keep your best time or to compare your time to others. Id also like to see an advanced mode with more sticks to pick up for an additional challenge, and a way to pause a game.
A great way to distract yourself during boring meetings or conference calls.
This game is soooo awesome! It is a great way to pass time. Even though it can get pretty challenging, it is a great game. Im going to tell all of my friends about this new app. And again I say, THIS GAME ROCKS!!!
This game is great for when you need to kill time. Wish is kept track of your best times and your high scores. Love even let my kids play. Reminds me of when I was a kid playing this with stix.
This addictive little app requires just enough concentration that my six year old opens his mind and closes his lips long enough to best his best time. Its a virtual way of sharing a favorite childhood game with my kids, without someone getting an eye poked out by an errant stick. The thing that makes this game really fun is something you wont realize until after you buy it. The timer adds an element of challenge that prevents you from setting it down and going on to something else. Youll feel like an internal gauntlet has been laid down to see how many seconds you could shave off your time, if you just played it one more time. Yeah, one more. Thats all. Okay ONE more. All right ONE MORE TIME. Just once. Okay, I promise. Just one more......WARNING!!!!!!! ITS MENTALLY ADDICTIVE. In a good way.
...way to have your kids pass time waiting in line or to keep them occupied.
Some bad moments
I would enjoy this game, except you dont get the chance to. After you open the app, you have enough time to pick up two sticks and then it closes on its own. Not sure why it does this, but hopefully a new version with bug fixes will be coming soon.
i would rate this game a zero if i could B O R I N G i think this game shouldnt even be in the app store
When I play, my fingers are to fat and it does not work when I touch the sticks!!! Hoping for a better update!! I have to touch the sticks 3 or 4 times in order for it to recognize me touching it!!!!!
In the app description it says you need 2.2.1 like most people I know my phone says 2.2 (in itunes and on phone) always good enough it the past.
well not anymore the developer says "you are running iPhone OS 2.2. It is stated on the Pickin Stix product page, your phone needs to be running the latest 2.2.1 (5H11) ".
I usually upgrade on major release and am not going to upgrade my phone with every minor release as its usually not worth the problems you can get from apple.
Now I have to worry about developers creating software that will only run on a particular minor release, dont think so. Looks like the app store is on a down hill slide, most folks will not deal with figuring out which minor release they need for which app.
They got my $.99 , I consider it a cheap lesson.
Does not work with the iPhone 4. U get kicked out of app as soon as u make a mistake. I want my money back!!!!!
It kicked me out of the game too. I dont know if its just the version or if it has a bug, but until it gets fixed I want my money back as well!
